Privacy policy
CleverParro is a floating voice-typing button for Android. You tap the bubble, speak, and the finished text lands in whatever app you were typing in. To do that, CleverParro needs a few things from your phone and sends a small amount of data to our servers. This page explains exactly what, why, and for how long. It applies to the CleverParro app (package com.cleverparro.voice) and to cleverparro.com.
CleverParro is made by CleverType by Pole, the company behind the CleverType keyboard ("we", "us"). When we say "CleverParro" below, we mean the app.
What CleverParro uses on your phone
CleverParro asks for four things. Each one is used for a single job.
CleverParro also checks your battery level on the phone, only to suggest lifting Android's background restriction when it is low.
How your voice is processed
CleverParro does not transcribe on your phone. When you tap Stop, the clip is compressed and sent over an encrypted connection to CleverParro's own server, together with your chosen output language and script, the app version, and a request ID. It may also include the name of the app you were typing in, so we can see which apps work well with CleverParro.
Our server passes the audio to an AI model that transcribes it, adds punctuation, applies your self-corrections ("nine, sorry, nine thirty" becomes "9:30") and writes the result in your output language. The text comes straight back to your phone and is inserted into the field you tapped.
Your history
CleverParro keeps a History of your recent dictations so you can copy something you said earlier. It lives only on your phone, in the app's private storage, and is never uploaded.
- Kept for 1 day by default, then deleted automatically.
- You can change this to 3 days, 7 days, 30 days, or turn it off. With it off, nothing is saved.
- Clear history now in Settings deletes everything immediately. Uninstalling the app deletes it too.
The two numbers on the Home screen (words typed this week, minutes saved) are counters stored on your phone. They contain no text.
Your account and device
You can use the free trial without creating an account. On first launch CleverParro signs you in anonymously with Firebase and sends a device identifier: a one-way hash of your Firebase installation ID and your Android ID. We use it to grant one free trial per phone and to make sure the remaining trial carries over if you reinstall. It cannot be turned back into your Android ID.
If you subscribe, you create an account with Google or with an email address and password, so your plan follows you to a new phone. We store your email address, sign-in provider, the country we infer from your IP address, time zone, language, app version, device make and model, your settings (output language, button style, the order of your Improve tools) and any custom tools you write, including their instructions. Passwords are handled by Firebase Authentication and never reach our servers in plain text.
You can delete your account from the Profile screen. Deletion removes your account, settings and custom tools. We keep anonymised billing records that Google Play and tax law require us to hold.
Payments
Subscriptions are sold through Google Play. Google handles the payment and we never see your card, bank or UPI details. From Google we receive a purchase token, an order ID, the plan you bought, the price and currency, your country and the subscription's status, so we can unlock Premium and keep it in sync if you cancel, pause or get a refund. Google's own privacy policy covers what Google collects at checkout.
Analytics and crash reports
To understand which parts of CleverParro are used and to fix bugs, the app sends usage events to Mixpanel and Firebase Analytics, and crash reports to Firebase Crashlytics. Events describe actions ("bubble tapped", "transcription finished in 2.1 seconds", "paywall shown"), never your words or audio. They are tied to your account ID, app version, plan, button style and output language. We also keep aggregate counters of the same events in our own database.
We use Firebase Remote Config to adjust settings without an app update and Firebase App Check (Play Integrity) to confirm requests come from a genuine copy of the app. We do not show ads and do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
Where your data is stored and international transfers
CleverParro's servers and database run on Google Cloud in Belgium and the Netherlands (the europe-west1 region and the eur3 multi-region). Audio and text sent to the AI providers may be processed in other countries, including the United States, under those providers' standard contractual terms. Mixpanel and Firebase also process data in the United States. Where the law requires it, we rely on standard contractual clauses for these transfers.
How long we keep data
Children
CleverParro is for adults. You must be 18 or older to use it, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has used CleverParro, write to us and we will delete the data.
Your rights and contact
You can ask us to show you the personal data we hold, correct it, delete it, limit how we use it, or give it to you in a machine-readable file. You can withdraw consent at any time by turning off a permission in Android, turning off voice typing in Settings, or uninstalling the app. If you are in the EU or UK you can also complain to your data protection authority. If you are in India, the grievance officer for this policy can be reached at the same address.
Email us at support@cleverparro.com. We will ask you to confirm you own the account, and we aim to answer within 72 hours.
Changes to this policy
When we change this policy we update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell you in the app and, if you have an account, by email. Continuing to use CleverParro after a change means you accept the updated policy.
